We were caboose camping this weekend for a reason beyond “Hey, camping in a caboose is awesome.” Ever since I moved to Ohio five years ago, I’ve wanted to take a trip to Old Man’s Cave. I had heard it was a beautiful spot… and it’s also, in part, the inspiration for one of my favorite cartoonists, Jeff Smith. Smith loved Old Man’s Cave so much, he made it a big part of his comic book magnum opus, Bone. I’ve been reading and loving Bone since I was a teenager.
Suffice to say, Old Man’s Cave was everything I thought it would be and more. An absolutely gorgeous destination and one of the most beautiful places I’ve ever seen.
